2022 comes to a close on the TrapDraw in fitting style with a chop session featuring TC & Randy. They attempt to work through a robust agenda of only the most important news items from across the globe, including some sports sprinkled in towards the back half. Plus, we'd be remiss not to offer a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone for listening to the show this year. We'll be back the first week of January with our annual Goals Pod, plus some cool, listener-involved features we're hoping to incorporate into the show next year. Today's show is a conversation with writer Stephen Proctor (@SProctorGolf on twitter) about his new book, "The Long Golden Afternoon: Golf's Age of Glory, 1864-1914." This book is an expertly-researched, easy-to-read look into a half-century of the game which sets the stage for the modern age while at the same time dealing with a lot of issues still at the heart of golf today (eg. technology). Stephen shines light on forgotten champions such as John Ball, John Henry Taylor, and many more. It's a great gift for any golf history nuts and avid readers in your life. Enjoy!

This week's show is all about football. Joining TC & Randy are two familiar faces, Micah Pueschel (front-man for the band Iration) and Kevin Van Valkenburg (writer for ESPN). The show kicks off with a bit of college football discussion, notably Deion to Boulder, Hugh Freeze to Auburn, and Buck Tech to the playoff. Then they dive into a robust NFL discussion--who's winning the season-long NFL team draft, what's up with the Niners, Ravens, and Bengals; and of course so, so much more (including a really interesting conversation around Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow). They begin by examining the strong words of CME Group's Terry Duffy ahead of the Tour Championship and what that says about current leadership and things to come. This week Randy is talking college hoops with Brendan Quinn of The Athletic. In addition to his writing at The Athletic, Brendan is on twitter @BFQuinn and co-hosts 'The Moving Screen' podcast. He and Randy talk about the best players in college ball this season, some of the most intriguing newcomers, and preview the power conferences along with a few 'mid-majors.' Today's show is a conversation between Randy and Jim Hartsell about Jim's new book, "When Revelation Comes". The book is available now through 

 and is Jim's second book. Besides his full-length writing, Jim writes at his website, jhartsellgolf.com, and contributes to a number of places, including The Golfer's Journal, Links Diary, and our own NLU website. 

"When Revelation Comes" is about a trip Jim took to Scotland in August of 2021 in the aftermath of losing his youngest son, Jordan, unexpectedly. It's a beautiful book that will touch on the full range of emotions, and stands both as a love letter to Scotland and Scottish golf, but also about what it means to love, lose, and try to carry on in the wake of an unimaginable tragedy. Enjoy.

Baseball in October is a beautiful thing, nothing beats the pressure of playoff baseball. With all four Division Series beginning today, the TrapDraw has you covered. On today's episode Randy is joined by Dominic Cotroneo (@Dom_Cotroneo on twitter) to preview each series, hand out regular season awards, and a lot more. Dom is a fascinating guy--he'll be working behind the scenes for TBS this postseason as a stats researcher, he hosts a Brewers post-game show throughout the regular season in Milwaukee, calls college baseball for the Pac-12 Network, and is a big golfer too! Find a rooting interest this postseason and enjoy another year of playoff baseball!
