In my best effort to learn something new on Veteran's Day, I took the opportunity to sit down with one of the most important people in my life. My Mom is the best, and I am not just saying that from an adult POV. She is one of the most caring, hard working, thoughtful, and loyal people I have come across. She has seen or sent almost every male and female member of her family off to the Military, most deploying overseas. Her perspective on being deployed is interesting, and something that I always was curious about. Enjoy!

Dave Baysden is one of a kind. He is an amazing father, husband, golfer, friend and more. What started as a creative outlet away from his full time job quickly turned into his solo gig. Kyle is back! Crazy to think that 1 year ago the team at No Laying Up gave me to green light to launch this thing. 

 at the time working his way through mini-tours while he prepared for Korn Ferry Q-School. A lot has changed in the past year for him, as he most recently secured his PGA Tour card through Korn Ferry Tour Finals. Not without a little stress, as Kyle found himself as the bubble boy at #25 on the list. This week he starts his PGA Tour career in Napa at the Fortinet Championship. Enjoy!

The 2022 Simpson Cup is behind us as Great Britain Team Captain Dave Ward led his team to a 13.5-5.5 victory against Team U.S. To get a sense of it all, I invited The Brothers Schuster onto the Pod to discuss their time at the event. Later in the episode I catch up with Mike Browne about this years Simpson Cup, his win at the Irish Open, and his tournament calendar for the remainder of the year. 2022 Simpson Cup recap w/Tron, Neil, and Mike Browne

Nick Kimmel grew up in the small town of Moses Lake, WA. In 2008, Nick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer. He was stationed in Japan after training. His time in service includes two combat deployments to Afghanistan. In December 2011 during his second deployment, Nick's platoon was tasked with building two small patrol bases in the Sangin Valley in Northern Helmand Province. On day four of the mission, Nick jumped off the forks of a forklift and landed on 40lbs of homemade explosives. Somehow, only 1/3 of the charge detonated. The blast instantly took both legs above the knee and his left arm above the elbow. After a long road of recovery Nick found himself with a renewed interest in golf. Next week Nick will play on his second Simpson Cup event. His story is about passion, drive and determination. Enjoy!

. BSB is a non-profit that operates out of Bozeman, Montana whose focus is strategic programs for Active Duty Special Operations Soldiers. What makes them unique is the Active Duty part of it all, as 99.9% of all other Military/Veteran related charity or Veteran Service Organizations focus on life after service. BSB accomplishes their mission by running multiple Task Forces (programs) throughout the year. Max DeOliveira is a Marine Corps Veteran, avid golfer, and leader of the Golf Program for Patrol Base Abbate. PB Abbate’s mission is to honor the legacy of Sergeant Matthew Abbate by providing veterans free-of-cost programming in Montana where they can reconnect, foster community through shared interests, and re-discover purpose in service to each other, their families, and their communities. . What started as an idea between friends during the cold Minnesota winter has evolved into a thriving family run small business. Thinking about the vintage or retro look in golf, Erik thought about how players practice and wondered if alignment sticks could be turned back in time. Alex Deibold is a Professional Snowboarder, Husband, Father, Olympic Bronze Medalist, and avid golfer. His story is full of highs and lows, but one constant: Snowboarding. With his parents' support Alex started on a board at an early age. He found success quickly once he started competing. He attended the Stratton Mountain School to focus on snowboarding (and a little school) before being selected to the U.S. National Team. He has competed in the Olympics twice, winning the Bronze Medal in Snowboard Cross at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Days leading up to the 2022 Winter Olympics, Alex suffered a crash landing him in a medically induced coma. Since then, he and his wife have welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their world.

Lt Col Dan Rooney is a 22 year and counting fighter pilot (F-16). He was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Air Force in 2000. His service includes three combat tours to Iraq as well as multiple awards and decorations. In 2007, Lt Col Rooney founded Folds of Honor to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of wounded or killed military service members. In 13 years, Folds of Honor has provided 29,000 life-changing scholarships totaling over $145 million.

Lt Col Rooney is also a proud Class A Member of the PGA of America. He is also the founder of two nationally ranked golf courses. The Patriot, Tulsa, OK is the home of Folds of Honor. American Dunes, his latest course with Jack Nicklaus is located outside Grand Rapids, MI, honors the birthplace of Folds of Honor while providing hope and healing to military veterans.
