Ira Molayo is the General Manager and Director of Golf at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas, TX. Ira joined the podcast to discuss his love of golf, history of Cedar Crest, and inclusion within the game. In 2018, Ira founded the I AM a Golfer Foundation to help bring about community renewal in South Dallas through golf and golf-related programs at Cedar Crest. Ira is everything you look for in a PGA of America Professional. He is a leader in his community who uses his passion for golf to promote and mentor the next generation. In addition to numerous other awards and recognition, Ira was inducted into the African American Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.

For this week's pod, we dove deep into three significant developments in professional golf history. As today's golf landscape appears to be shifting on a weekly basis, we look back at precedent for potential breakaway tours. In our research, three significant events stood out: The breakaway from the PGA of America (and ultimately, the formation of the PGA Tour) in 1968, an attempted overthrow of Commissioner Deane Beman in 1983 by some of the the top players in the game, and Greg Norman's formation of a World Tour in 1994. Common themes that arise are similar to the refrains we hear today. This one was a lot of fun.

505 - Breakaway Tours Deep Dive (1968 formation of the PGA Tour, Attempted coup in 1983, and Greg Norman's World Tour in 1994)

Jeremiah Wilber is a Warrior in every sense of the word. He was born in Ennis, Montana graduated High School in Las Vegas, Nevada and quickly enlisted in the US Army as Military Police (MP). As an MP, Jeremiah served two combat tours and completed the Sapper Leader Course and Army Ranger School. After graduating Ranger School, Jeremiah completed Special Forces Assessment and Selection serving in both 3rd and 10th Special Forces Groups as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant. As a Green Beret he deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq. Jeremiah retired in 2020 and turned his attention to raising money and supporting veteran nonprofits. He is the founder of War Party Movement, an organization focused on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons. Additionally, Jeremiah is a member of Bear Hug Cattle Company, a non-profit focused on providing horsemanship instructions to veterans.

Sam Stoddart stepped on a pressure plate while leading a patrol in Southern Afghanistan in 2012. The pressure plate triggered an IED blast that severely damaged his left foot and ankle. He spent the next eight years fighting pain, going through additional surgeries, and altering his quality of life before he made the decision to amputate. During recovery, Sam began taking courses through the On Course Foundation, a UK and US based origination focused on building personal confidence and sharing experiences of injured and sick veterans through the game of golf.
